Mr.Kampanart Faller Sangkhanond, Chiang Mai Station Manager along with ground staff at Chiang Mai Station of Thai Lion Air, conducted a full-scale emergency and security response drill for the fiscal year 2024, focusing on aircraft hijacking scenarios. The objective of this drill was to review and rehearse the procedures and responses in the event of a real emergency. This exercise complies with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand's regulations, versions 14 and 37, which mandate that airports providing public services must develop an emergency plan and conduct a Full-Scale Emergency Exercise at least every two years to review, test, and update the emergency plans accordingly.
The drill was honored by the presence of Mr. Chatchawan Panya, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, who presided over the opening ceremony. Wing Commander Ronakorn Chalermsaenyakorn, Director of Chiang Mai Airport, led the drill. The event was also attended by senior executives from Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited, representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Thailand, various agencies, and ground service staff from Thai Lion Air at Chiang Mai station, who observed the full-scale emergency drill.
